E Pili Ana iā Mākou

A Return to the Ancients

The Order of ‘Io began long before we were born, with our kūpuna of old who would follow the practice of Lōkahi. Allowing for aloha ‘āina, aloha kānaka, and aloha ‘o ‘Io keeping the balance in the self and the world around them. Then came a time when Pā‘ao, the warrior priest of the Taputapuatea Marae, voyaged in his cloud of ships to storm the shores of his fellow Polynesian brethren to uproot the core of our people, ‘Io. Conquering Moananuiākea Pā‘ao changed the face of our worship to his gods and the Order of ‘Io ended… or did it? The Order has returned and wishes to go back to the ways of our kūpuna who first voyaged to the promised land of Hawaiki (Hawai‘i) with the mission of establishing here “thy house of ‘Io.”

Lāhui Outreach

Voyaging out into the Community

Aloha ‘āina, aloha kānaka, and aloha ‘o ‘Io are the three points of the Lōkahi Triangle that we believe are needed to live a life of hau‘oli. It is also the motto by which H.M. Kauikeouli spoke to his people “Ua Mau ke Ea o ka ʻĀina I ka Pono.” To further this philosophy of life the Order of ‘Io believes that providing service to these areas of the community are vital. We invite you to be a perpetuator of righteousness in this land.
